I will be having my first booth setup in July to sell my acrylic paintings. Any suggestions of things to think about, take along, pricing, accepting checks for payment, or even building pannels to hang artwork on. I would appreaciate any comments on these subjects. Thanks Vicki
I would just take the bare essentials with me to fairs, especially if you are going by yourself. I assume you will be under a canopy, and if so, you may want to take some bed sheets to hang along the canopy to block sunlight from your paintings. Also, make sure you don't have any paintings on tables with paintings underneath (like on the ground). I had some paintings setting on a table and one on the ground and a strong gust of wind came through and blew some of them off the table and one ripped a hole into a painting on the ground. I would be cautious about accepting checks. Let people know that you prefer cash. To hang some of my paintings, I used peg board (get s-hooks for it) and it worked great. Oh - you want to remember to greet everbody who comes into your booth. I do hope that this helps. About your prices - don't be inflexible with them. If somebody offers you a good price, accept it.
