Hi, I was wondering when your drawing from a model sometimes theirs multiple light sources, such as the key light, ambient light and just other lights within the room. Should you just ignore the other lights in the scene and just draw as if the model had one key light source. I have a bad habit of trying to copy the model exactly as I see it.

if theres no easily seen light and dark pattern, use these oppurtinities to study form.
where i currently live, theres nothing in the avenue of drawing or painting. if there is, it's the picasso jazz. i went to a (unreliable) figure drawing get together at the local art center... and this model had have a dozen flood lights on her, in a small room against a white wall... and she was pasty white. nearly blinded me. look for the form, you'll find the planes and you can use the colors to model. i seem to remember alot of bouguereau pieces that never had a light and dark pattern. cheers. john |
